Responsible Tourism : An Encounter Between Two Worlds

Why did an insurance company decide to replace its classical incentive, designed to reward its top achievers, by engaging them on a project of sustainable development, right in the heart of West Africa?

This is a perfect example of 'Responsible Tourism', an emerging style of incentive trips, blending commercial objectives to cultural exchanges with selected local communities, thereby enhancing their development and the respect for their environment.

This was the human and logistical challenge that Delta Lloyd and Destination Unlimited raised last March, when sending more than 100 guests to participate in the construction of a water dam in Burkina Faso. The project was sponsored by a Belgian NGO.

Thanks to a lengthy and informative motivation campaign, all guests willingly participated on this exceptional and highly rewarding experience. The 'humanitarian' program included various incentive activities (countryside 4x4 rallies, dining with the villagers, 'djembe' workshops), leaving all participants with unforgettable memories.

This trip proves once again that a well-conceived humanitarian project, which promotes such rewarding experiences, undoubtedly brings peoples together and creates unique bonds, unforgettable emotions and satisfactions like no other!
